In college art history exams, the teacher would project slides up on the screen and you were supposed to identify them by artist, date, title, etc. That was not particularly easy for me, because my memory is primarily visual. Now, if the teacher had put up a slide and asked me if I'd seen it before, well, that would be no problem.
