I just may need an intervention. There were no movies worth seeing this weekend, but I nevertheless went to one - "The Mechanic". I mean, it's got Jason Statham, who's always good for grimness, and Donald Sutherland, who's always good for something, so, really, you'd think, "O.K., it's a mindless shoot-'em-up, but even they're sometimes fun", right? Well, no. Wrong. Really, really, really wrong. The only thing thinner and less-developed than the plot of this movie is the current Republican platform (not to mention their current field of presidential "candidates"). So, really, don't see this movie. Don't wait for the DVD. Forget that it ever existed. Go watch some paint dry if you're really desperate for diversion.
