I don't know exactly what, but it says something, doesn't it?

This part of town, East Hastings, is in the midst of big-time changes (as these gigantic condo towers attest), and none of them are going to be good for the people who've lived there for years. Yep, they're the dregs of society, but is that any reason to make their lives worse (if that's possible) than they already are? They're now being squeezed out of this area as condos to both the south and north of their neighbourhood continue to go up and press toward each other. It's just a tad jarring to go from looking at the flash crowd sitting outside of Starbuck's to the definitely non-flash crowd slumped in the doorways of derelict stores just a hundred feet away. The view from a table outside of Starbuck's, of course, faces the other way.

And, speaking of justice, 24 years for Jeffy Skilling - couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He and Dead Ken ruined the lives of hundreds, maybe thousands, of people. My dream would be to be there when a conversation something like this takes place, "Jeffy, meet Snooky. Snooky's going to be your new bestest friend."
